Carrie Helmcamp joined Ikard Wynne in 2007, bringing with her 16 years of civil litigation experience.  Carrie’s practice is focused on family law, and includes both collaborative family law and traditional family law.  Her broad civil litigation background includes both personal injury and commercial litigation. She was named a partner in the firm in 2010.

It was Carrie’s love of debate as a teenager that led her to pursue a law career, though she quickly learned that being a lawyer is much more than simply being a good debater. She strives to makes sure that her clients feel that they have received excellent care. She says, “Much of my work is in family law and the issues confronting our family law clients are both legal and intensely emotional.  Helping navigate a course that includes experienced legal counsel within the context of the client’s personal family dynamic is a tricky blend of art and science.  It feels good to get that right.”

Carrie favors creative solutions tailored for her client over cookie cutter solutions, educates each client on his or her case, and believes that an informed, prepared client is an integral part of a good outcome.

In addition to her work with Ikard Wynne, Carrie volunteers with Mobile Loaves and Fishes, an organization committed to helping the homeless in Austin, and is involved as a parent with her sons’ activities.
